Synopsis
This capsule-format documentary takes us back in time to the creative world of Dirk Braeckman, in the early days of his experimental practice. The Belgian photographer talks about his work with portraiture and self-portraiture, two genres that for him are a quest for identity. Even then, his photographs had the ashy surface and highly textured character we know today. His charcoal images, as if covered in a veil of black smoke, plunge us into the mysteries of the human soul.
