Synopsis
William Eggleston, an American photographic legend whose use of colour revolutionised photography, needs no introduction. In this intimate portrait, which will be nearly twenty years old, we discover him through the eyes of those closest to him. A discreet presence with a no less piercing gaze, Eggleston shares a few words in his bewitching southern drawl, the accent of the American South. He distils them sparingly, as if they had to be extracted from him. He prefers to let others tell his story: his family, his friends... artists, like himself. And behind this slightly disillusioned air we can see an immense sensitivity, a vulnerability that pierces the screen, coupled with a touch of madness, which we sometimes imagine to be stormy, and which makes him the great photographer he is today.
