Synopsis
In this short film, two narrators - photographer Marie-Paule Stockaert and filmmaker Philippe Van Cutsem - explore the archives of photographer Edouard Hannon (1853-1931), trying to unravel the mystery of his work. This Belgian engineer, who practised photography as an amateur, produced an astonishing body of work, ranging from pictorialism to reportage. Is the power of these images the result of a conscious artistic search or mere chance? Although Edouard Hannon considered photography to be a hobby, his photographs nevertheless reveal a highly refined eye, driven by an insatiable curiosity about mankind.
