Film director Photographer

Sol Miraglia is an artist and filmmaker based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and represented by galerie HACHE.

Working in photographic and filmic media, Sol explores the emotional and epistemological tensions between individuals, their creative output and their archives. Her projects often focus on the work of older artists whose work has been lost from view in spaces frozen in time.

Sol connects these artists' works and spaces in new ways, relating them to global movements, political histories and forgotten local figures. She reinterprets them from a contemporary perspective and opens them up to new audiences and new generations.

The narratives that Sol Miraglia develops often take the form of films, exhibitions and publications: his Foto Estudio Luisita project first appeared as an archive conservation project, transformed into an exhibition Temporada Fulgor (Museo de Arte Latinoamericanode Bueno Aires, November - May 2021) and giving rise to an eponymous catalogue selected by Les Rencontres d'Arles 2022 as a photo history book, among other events, exhibitions and publications, including an interview in Aperture in 2022.

Recent works include her participation in the group exhibitions Cultura Colibrí at the Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires (2023); the films Cuando el olimpo choca con la pampa (2021) and Café de kinema (2021); and the publication in 2021 of Madalena Schwartz: As Metamorfoses, Instituto Moreira Salles, Brazil.

Her work can also be found in the permanent collections of MALBA, the Instituto Moreira Salles and the Colección Amalia Amoedo, among others. She also won the Best Director of Photography Award at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2019 for Foto Estudio Luisita
