Natalie Amargier

As a journalist, publisher and literary translator, Natalie Amargier has built up a highly challenging career over the last three decades at the crossroads of the international press, translation and editorial thinking.

Since 2022, she has been editor-in-chief of LIKE la revue, where she is in charge of editorial direction: choosing subjects, conducting interviews, writing and rewriting, and coordinating the team with freelancers.

She was editor-in-chief at Courrier International from 1990 to 2019, with particular responsibility for the Eastern Europe and former USSR news section. Her expertise also led her to work as a correspondent in the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa, where she kept an active watch on major cultural and artistic issues.

A renowned literary translator, she has written numerous translations of contemporary and classic Russian authors, including Andreï Kourkov, Isaac Babel, Andreï Tarkovski, Andreï Salomatov and Zinaïda Hippius. Her work has been published by publishers such as Liana Levi, Jacqueline Chambon, Exils and l'Inalco.

She is also the author of Des mots pour comprendre la Russie, with a preface by Alexandre Adler (ed. Plume), and contributed to Cahiers durrelliens with a study of Lawrence Durrell in Languedoc.
