After completing his higher education in mathematics, Camille Guichard made numerous creative documentaries on painting, sculpture, theatre, architecture and contemporary dance, as well as short fiction films. Alongside his work as a director, he is also a screenwriter, particularly for television and cinema, and a writer. His first novel, Vision par une fente, was published by Gallimard, and his latest novel, Pique-Nique, by Mercure de France. Nominated for a César Award for Best Short Film, he is a laureate of the Fondation Beaumarchais and Sources, and a finalist for the Grand Prix du Meilleur Scénariste Sopadin. He has also taught screenwriting at the CEEA (Conservatoire Européen de l'Écriture Audiovisuelle) and at the ENS/Ulm.
Alongside his work as an author and director, Camille Guichard is a photographer. His series include: Il regardait sa femme comme si elle était son amante (He looked at his wife as if she were his lover), the fictionalised story of a model under the gaze of a photographer; Ces rivages perdus (These lost shores), on coastal erosion; Deux ou trois choses que je sais de vous (Two or three things I know about you), on the intimacy of hotel guests; and En pluie fine tombent les atomes (Atoms fall in a fine rain), a tale about the end of the world. He is currently working on a new series entitled ‘Pulsion, corps et figures’ (Pulse, bodies and figures) on self-portraiture.
